DANCING UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS FOR DIFFERENT GENRES

BALLET UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS

In all ballet grades, hair must be worn in a neat bun. No jewellery or watches are to be worn in class.

PRE-SCHOOL DANCE CLASS / PRE-PRIMARY GRADE AND PRIMARY GRADE

  • No sleeve Cotton/Lycra leotard Colour: Ballet Pink
  • Pale Pink Net Skirt (Twinkle Toes and Pre-Primary)
  • Pale Pink Leotard with a skirt for Primary
  • Short white socks (Summer) / Pink Ballet Tights (Winter)
  • Pink leather Ballet Shoes (Full Sole)
  • New RYDC Pre-school/kindy leotard with skirt

GRADE ONE AND TWO

  • Jacaranda coloured Cotton/ Lycra leotard
  • Pink Ballet Stockings
  • Pink leather Ballet Shoes (full sole)
  • Black Character Shoes (low heel)
  • Character Skirt (hired for the exam from the studio)

GRADE THREE TO FIVE

  • Aqua coloured Cotton/ Lycra leotard
  • Pink Ballet Stockings
  • Pink leather Ballet Shoes
  • Character Skirt (Hired for Exam)
  • Black Character Shoes (low heel)

GRADE SIX, SEVEN & EIGHT

  • Black cotton Lycra no sleeve leotard for class
  • Dark Blue/Purple coloured Cotton/ Lycra leotard (Exam) G6 – G8
  • Matching long sheer chiffon skirt (Exam Only) G6 – G8
  • Pink Ballet Stockings
  • Pink leather ballet shoes with ribbons
  • Character Skirt (hired for the exam)
  • Black Character shoes (Exam only)

BOYS BALLET UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS

  • Black or Navy Cotton Lycra tights
  • White tight fitting T-Shirt (or Boys short-sleeved leotard)
  • White socks
  • Black Leather Ballet Shoes or White Canvas ballet shoes (exam)

INTERMEDIATE FOUNDATION TO ADVANCED LEVEL

  • Black Cotton Lycra no sleeved Leotard (wide straps)
  • Pink Ballet Stockings
  • Pink leather Ballet Shoes / Demi-Pointe Shoes from Intermediate Grade
  • Pointe Shoes (To be approved by Miss Robyn from Intermediate Foundation Grade)

JAZZ & MODERN/CONTEMPORARY UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS

JUNIORS TO INTERMEDIATE

  • Deep Purple Studio Dance Top or Leotard
  • Black Bike Pants / Short dance pants
  • Camel Jazz Shoes / (Black Jazz shoes from Intermediate)
  • No Shoes required for Modern
  • Hair – Must be worn in ponytail or bun

BOYS 

  • Studio t-shirt
  • Black Jazz Pants
  • Black Top Shoes / Black Jazz Shoes

TAP UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS

JUNIORS – TEST ONE TO BRONZE MEDAL

  • Purple Studio leotard or dance top
  • Black short Dance Pants
  • Skin coloured Fishnets (for the exam)
  • Short White Socks for Test 1 and 2
  • Camel coloured Tap Shoes / Boys – Black Tap Shoes

SILVER MEDAL TO ADVANCED LEVEL

  • Black leotard / Fishnets / Camel Tap Shoes

BOYS

  • Studio t-shirt
  • Black Jazz Pants
  • Black Top Shoes / Black Jazz Shoes

SENIOR AND ADVANCED

  • Studio Dance Top or Leotard
  • Black Bike Pants or long dance pants
  • Black Jazz Shoes (Not Dance boots)
  • No Shoes required for Contemporary
  • Hair – Must be worn in a ponytail or bun
