With considerable successes in exams and eisteddfods, R.Y.D.C. has also trained students who are now dancing in full-time dance programmes, with former students going on to professional careers in the dance and entertainment industry.

Robyn is the owner and Artistic Director of the Robyn Yvette Dance Centre. Robyn began dance classes at the age of 3 and a half, learning Physical Culture and then commencing Ballet, Tap, and Jazz classes with the Wendy Fallon School of Dance.


Winning numerous places in Eisteddfods in all dance styles and excelling in each ballet grade with the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, Robyn also performed and competed in the Bjelke Peterson Physical Culture competitions winning numerous times in the State finals held at the Sydney Opera House.


Robyn completed her ballet training with the Scully Borovansky Academy in Sydney after winning a scholarship to attend the prestigious Sydney ballet studio.


After becoming a qualified R.A.D teacher, Robyn began teaching in Sydney before moving to Port Stephens in 1980 and opening her dance school, teaching all styles of dance, choreographing solo and group routines, and designing costumes for the studio's annual concerts and Eisteddfods. Robyn also painted stage scenery and wrote original scripts for each Annual Concert.


Robyn completed the Tap Teachers Diploma with teacher Les Griffith in Newcastle and was then invited to become an Examiner and Adjudicator with the Les Griffith Tap Dance Academy (L.G.T.D.A.) and has adjudicated at Eisteddfods and dance studios throughout N.S.W. and internationally.


In 2005 Robyn was presented with a community service award by the N.S.W. State Parliament for 25 years of dedication in the dance industry.


In 2017, Robyn opened her purpose-built studio in Taylors Beach, seeing the necessity of a centre designed purely for dance.


Robyn is also a professional artist and has exhibited her paintings in Los Angeles, winning 1st place with a still-life painting. She has also won a prize in the Australian Artist magazine. Her artistic ability can be seen in some of the stage scenery that she paints by hand. Robyn also designs and makes many of the headpieces for the costumes and designs many of the costumes for the concert.


Over the past 40 years, students trained at the dance centre have won numerous awards in all dance styles and excelled in both the R.A.D. Ballet and L.G.T.D.A. Tap Examinations.


Recent successes include student Josie Byrnes, who was runner-up in the prestigious R.A.D. Isobel Anderson Awards in 2018 for the Intermediate Foundation Grade.

JAMIE L KING

Pre-school & Kindy dance, Classical Ballet,

Jazz, & Contemporary Dance

Jamie began her dance training at age 3. She joined National College of Dance and Hunter School of the Performing Arts (HSPA) at a young age achieving high marks in all RAD grades and vocational ballet exams as well as gaining other incredible performance opportunities.

Jamie completed 3 years of full time Dance at National College of Dance, training in,Classical Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Drama, Music, Singing, and completing her Certificate IV and Diploma.


Jamie has worked with the National Theatre Company in many performances and trained in choreography. by the Brisbane National Theatre Company and was accepted into and completed their junior apprentice program. Jamie then returned to National College of Dance to continue teaching Tiny Tots ballet, RAD grades, jazz, contemporary, acro and pointe preparation.

GABBY MITCHELL

Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Jazz,

Musical Theatre and Acro

Gabby has trained in many styles of dance throughout her career but Ballet has been her longest and most in-depth training. She began training under the British Ballet Organization (BBO) syllabus and received high marks in examinations. In 2014, she transferred over to the RAD Syllabus. Gabby completed her Advanced 2 RAD examination in 2018 whilst also completing her Diploma, which completed her experience in syllabus training. 

 

Gabby studied at the National College of Dance in the Cert 4 and Diploma-Elite dance performance program. In this program Gabby received training from world class teachers in all styles including Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Character, Pas De Deux and Conditioning. While finishing her studies, Gabby participated in Auditions to extend her training overseas. She was successful at many auditions but decided on a spot at a prestigious dance school in Pennsylvania, USA. 

 

In August 2018, Gabby traveled over to the United States and began her training at The Rock School for Dance Education. At the school she experienced training from teachers from across the world including Portugal, Russia and America. The vocational training at the Rock was heavily Classical based, giving Gabby the opportunity to dance in classical ballets, compete in competitions and experience lots of face to face auditions in New York City USA,

Holly Carter — Port Stephens — Robyn Yvette Dance Centre

HOLLY CARTER

Ballet Teacher and Choreographer

Holly is a highly awarded and experienced dance teacher and choreographer. Holly ran her studio in Denmark, WA, and was also an Examiner for the final year Ballet students at W.A.A.P.A.


She has trained at Daphne Parker School of Dance, Ecole Classique, Sydney Dance Company, and in London at Royal Birmingham and Manchester U.K. Holly has attained her Solo Seal with R.A.D., Victorian College of the Arts Bachelor of Dance Year 1 and 2, Purna Yoga Teacher Training Level 1 and 2, and is also a Pilates Matwork Teacher.


Professional dance history includes the Australian ballet, the West Australian Ballet, the Queensland Ballet, Opera Australia, and performing "Afternoon of the Faun" with the Nureyev Australian Tour 1992.


She has worked with numerous choreographers, including Gideon Obarzanek, Natalie Weir, Chrissy Parrot, Ted Branson, Stephen Page (Bangarra), Stanton Welch, Stephen Baynes, and Bernadette Walong.


Additionally, Holly has received the following awards: Isobel Anderson Award (Advanced Section), Rothmans Final – City of Sydney Eisteddfod, Silver Medal in the Sanlam International Ballet Competition, New Faces Winner – NBN Television.
